Hoops take on Whitstable at home

By Deal Town

The Hoops take on Whitstable Town in their first home league game of the season on Tuesday night.

And the two sides have made contrasting starts to the new campaign. While Deal have lost 1-0 to Banstead Athletic in the FA Cup and 5-1 to Cray Valley in the league, the Oystermen have won both their opening matches in convincing fashion, defeating Oakwood 4-0 in the cup and then beating AFC Croydon 3-0 in the league on Saturday.

Deal will draw encouragement from the fact that they overcame Whitstable after a replay in the FA Cup last season, and a disappointing campaign for the Oystermen saw them relegated from Ryman 1 South.

But manager Scott Porter has brought in several new players during the summer including Darren Marsden from Sheppey United and Aaron Quain from Ramsgate, and the early signs look good for Oystermen who also include former Deal player Scott Punton in their squad.
