BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND PREVIEW

By Deal Town

The Hoops will hope to get their season up and running with two league matches in three days over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Saturday’s home  game with Sevenoaks will be followed by a trip to Rochester United on Monday (both 3pm kick offs) and Derek Hares’ side will be looking to put their first points up on the board after losing their opening two league matches.

Hares said: “I knew the start of the season would be tough because of so many people being away but I am quite confident that we will now start to do better.”

Several players returned to the squad for Wednesday night’s 2-1 friendly victory over a Ramsgate U21 side but defender Sam Short is again ruled out for this weekend by the ankle problem which caused him to miss so much of last season while fellow defender Alex Coyne is also doubtful because of a hamstring injury.

Deal Reserves meanwhile get their competitive season up and running this Saturday with a trip to take on Aylesford in Division 2 East of the Kent County League.

  1. Firstly,pedant alert! 🙂
It’s not the Kent Invicta League (as mentioned on the front page of the website)
Hoping to see the team get some points on the board this weekend. Need to rotate the squad,as with this weather,(not that Im moaning about it)players will get burnout
    playing both games.
    Will be there .

  2. Will be a tough opponents on Saturday as they have a very strong squad this year and have just got another addition recently. They have acquired Andy Constable from Sheppey leaving Ernie Batten most upset as it seems it was about money. Ernie has also lost David Abe although no one knows where.
It will be nice to get points on the board but it wont be easy.
Will be there so Come on Deal.!!!!

  3. Well at least the players should be fit for Monday, due to today’s unfortunate circumstances.
Thank God no one was injured.
    Will be there.

  4. Yes what an accident. Could’ve been tragic.
